Saco Real Estate
Saco, Maine is considered one of the American Northeast’s most livable cities, garnering recognition for its beauty and opportunity. With a population of 18,000, Saco is located 90 miles north of Boston and just 15 miles south of Portland, and is a proud Main Street Community and Preserve America Community that respects its historic background and strives toward a vitalizing future for its residents. One of the latest improvements to the area is the new Amtrak Station that offers commuter services to Boston daily.

Seven miles of sandy beach begin at Camp Ellis, a local fishing and lobstering community, and continues through Old Orchard Beach to Pine Point in Scarborough. Ferry Beach State Park and Bay View Beach among other Saco beaches are perfect locations for a swim or to just soak up the sun. Beyond the beaches, kayakers and boaters take advantage of the gorgeous Saco River for striper fishing and its access to the open ocean, with plenty of places to dock or launch a boat using one of several boat launches or nearby marinas.
Notable attractions in Saco include the popular Funtown/Splashtown, USA and Aquaboggan amusement parks that are fun for kids of all ages. Residents and visitors often attend events at the Saco Museum, with its amazing collection of regional history exhibits and fine art and decorative art displays. Saco has two local golf clubs and there are several within a 10 minute drive. Plus for you walkers and hikers we have the Sylvan Trail, Atlantic Way Trail, and the Great Saco Heath Sanctuary to name a few. Saco Bay Trails, a non-profit organization, promotes and maintains many of these trials and is always looking for enthusiasts to volunteer. And if you like to cycle, there is a local 15 mile ride that covers the beaches and it offers safe riding, fantastic views and can also be a simple 3 mile ride from Saco’s downtown area. Plus every year Main Street hosts a number of festivals such as the October Pumpkin Fest and June Sidewalk Art Festival.
Saco’s high quality of life is enhanced by its schools and health services. Saco is home to the Wardwell Retirement and Assisted Living Neighborhood located downtown and also the Atlantic Heights Retirement Community and Seal Rock Health Care Facility off Route #9. Located in the neighboring city of Biddeford is Southern Maine Medical Center, the entire medical district plus University Health Care (through the University of New England) which offers four centers with individual specialties.
And not only is Saco a beach community but there is also the North Saco area that is home to local farms and rural homes. We love the area and hope you will too. Below are links to the local schools and higher education.
